World of Warcraft Best Mage Pre-Raiding Gear Guide

We are trying to prepare to do Karazhan and beyond.

Two things we need to do to prepare are the following:
1) We need to get "keyed" so we can enter the instance.
2) We need good enough gear so we have a chance to get through the instance.

Like many of us, I am learning to play my character as I go.
I need to learn what gear I should try to get.
