Aru's Favorite Addons

I get asked a lot which addons I use and where to find them. If you have some favorite addons that aren't featured on the list below, definitely let the rest of us know by using the comment link at the bottom of the post.

Here's a just a small sampling of some of my very favorites:

Titan Panel (with lots of plugins--see download page for info on how to get those)
ArkInventory - Organizes your bags and bank automatically. Requires a bit of easy configuration.
Bongos2 - Bongos2 is an action bar replacement designed to be both low memory, and easy to setup.
Auctioneer - an addon which makes your time spent at the AuctionHouse more productive by remembering prices, finding bargains and suggesting prices based upon past data. It's not meant to be an all-in-one perfect solution, however in the hands of an expert, it will help make lots of money.
Informant - contains item information such as which items are parts of quests, vendor buyable and what the vendor prices of items are. It contains it's own database of items so even on a fresh install it's useful, and doesn't have to gather prices.
X-Perl Unit Frames - a complete replacement for Blizzard's default unit frames, including raid frames and raid tools
MobMap - an ingame database browser. It displays the positions of all known mobs and NPCs on the ingame map as well as the minimap. It also integrates itself into your questlog and finds the positions of quest mobs with just one click. And it does even more: it allows you to search the MobMap quest database, the merchant database and the recipe database.
MetaMap - MetaMap adds features to the WoW world map, keeping all mapping type features in a single place. (Must have mod!)
MobInfo2 - provides you with useful additional information about Mobs (ie. opponents/monsters). It adds new information to the game's Tooltip whenever you hover with your mouse over a mob such as # of kills, drop percentages and more
Lightheaded - very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest.
TomTom - allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.
Doublewide - works great with Lightheaded, makes your quest log easier to read on screen
EquipCompare -When you shop for items at a vendor or the Auction House and you hover over an item, you get a comparison tooltip showing the "currently equipped" item too. This AddOn adds such a feature everywhere in the game where you can hover over items, such as in your bags, in the loot window or on the reward page of a quest. You also receive comparison tooltips when clicking an item link in the chat box
CTMailMod -makes it easy to open up all your mail at once, as well as a bulk mail sender for attaching multiple items to be sent to one person. Both work really well, are simple to use, and integrate cleanly into the existing mail window. As an added bonus, names are auto-completed when you send to someone on your friends list or in your guild.
GroupCalendar - featured in a separate web post
Outfitter -Outfitter allows you to create multiple outfits and equip them with a click of your mouse. You can layer outfits, create outfits optimized for a particular attribute (ie, fire resist or maximum defense), and have outfits which automatically equip. Automatic outfits include riding, Argent Dawn (plagulands), battlegrounds, and class-specific automatic outfits like shadowform, stealth, warrior stances and druid shapeshifting.
Omen Threat Meter - Omen is a threat meter. Basically, enemies in WoW decide who to attack by deciding who is the most threatening based on the abilities you use. What Omen attempts to do is provide reasonably accurate estimates of your group's relative threat level on individual enemies, so that you can see when you're in danger of pulling aggro (or, if you're next on the snack list if your tank bites it).
LiteAssist - LiteAssist is a very basic addon to replace the standard /assist macro.
It provides extra key bindings to learn who to assist and to assist them. You can (and must to use this addon) set them up via the WoW Keyboard Options menu.
Possessions - Possessions is an AddOn to keep track of all your... possessions.
It will keep track of the items and money on all your alts (per server), including worn items, items in your inventory, items in your bank and even items in your mailbox (that you've seen).
QuestHistory - An in-game history log of quests that have been accepted, completed, failed, or abandoned.

I use depositbox. It's at curse.com....do a search for depositbox. This addon allows you to set it up so a percent of your loot/vendor/AH money goes into a savings account. You can access the money any time but what is in the savings account is hidden from what you have aviable to spend. It's a great way to "horde" money for your mount.

Hey everyone, another great addon is Gatherer, which is an addon that remembers all the details (when, where, how many times, etc) of your herbalism and mining, and displays them on your map. A really cool side feature is the option of sharing your gathering data with your guildmates. You can find it at curse.com or at http://gathereraddon.com/dl/

I use three addons for Hunters: Feed-o-matic, Trackmenu & Hunter's Helper. You can get them all at www.fizzwidget.com and I love them.

Feed-O-Matic features state-of-the-art nutritional analyzers to make sure your pet’s hunger is satisfied with a minimum of fuss, advanced selective logic to make your pet doesn’t eat anything you have another use for, and a weight optimizer to make sure the food in your bags stays well organized! Just press the “Feed Now” button and it’ll intelligently choose a food and accurately toss it to your pet.

TrackMenu - This handy device attaches to your current navigation equipment and keeps all your tracking skills at your fingertips, without undue confusion… leaving you more room to keep other abilities or items readied.
Mousing over the minimap tracking icon (the part of the Blizzard default UI that shows which tracking skill is currently active) will show a menu of the tracking skills you have. Click a button in the menu to switch to that tracking skill.
If you have tracking skills but none are active, the minimap tracking icon will still be shown, with an “X” icon (so that you can still use the menu to pick one).
Unlike straight ports of older tracking menu addons, Fizzwidget TrackMenu is built from the ground up for WoW 2.0 — it works the same regardless of whether you’re in combat.

Hunter's Helper: When you mouse over a beast in the world, the tooltip will show which abilities a Hunter could learn after taming it. (Or no additional info if the beast doesn’t have any known abilities.)
If you’re currently playing a hunter, the abilities will be colored according to whether you’ve already learned them: green for abilities you have yet to learn, and gray for those you already know. Hunter’s Helper will notice when you learn new abilities and will automatically refresh its index whenever you open the Beast Training window. (If you already know a few abilities, you should open you Beast Training window the first time you play after installing Hunter’s Helper.)
Need to know where to find new abilities for your pet? Type (for example) /huntershelper find Bite 6 to get a list of beasts known to have that ability. Results are sorted by zone, with those areas closest to (or most accessible from) your current location first. (The list cuts off after four zones if you look for an ability found on a wide variety of beast types.)
Hunter’s Helper also notifies you in chat if you tame a beast whose skillset isn’t what was expected. Please contact me so I can update Hunter’s Helper with corrected information!

Recipieradar is great. It allows you to find every vendor recipie, professional and secondary skills. www.curse.com search for recipieradar....it comes it handy, as it will tell you what you can learn and who can learn it if you have alts.
